Gravel, Camels and Cardamom: Riding Across Jordan
An eight-day ultra gravel adventure across Jordan, from the Dead Sea to Petra and the red sands of Wadi Rum. Crusader castles, Roman roads, Nabataean trade routes and desert bivvies stitched together by coffee, camels and long climbs. A gravel journey through history, landscape and culture on two wheels.
Rain washed Surrey
Just under 30 riders set off, despite the foreboding weather forecast to enjoy the Surrey Gravel Explorer ride, an amazing ride of contrasts through areas of outstanding natural beauty crossing chalk heathlands, long swooping stretches of maintained gravel path interspaced with one or two more challenging sections. With a choice of two routes, the 110 km challenge or the 80 km tour, there was something for all riders regardless of experience and fitness.

It’s incredible, only 20 minutes by train out of London and straight away you’re being guided by bike off-road on traffic-free bridleways and tracks. Old boneshakers, hybrids and off-road bikes, all are fine, even on the slightly muddy paths this time of year.
