Ride Description

Starting from Barnes Station, the route climbs through tree-lined streets to Wimbledon Common, where, frankly, you’re more likely to spot the fully working windmill than a Womble but that said the windmill is impressive and has a decent café attached.

The route crosses the common, take care in Summer, this part can get fairly crowded, walkers, children and dogs – herds of them, before descending to the Beverly Brook.

Crossing this, enter Richmond Park and climb, when you get to the top, turn around and have a Dick Whittington moment, it’s one of the protected views of St Pauls.  Descend ‘Dark Hill’ and follow the route past Ham House (always worth a visit) to join the river.

Just before Richmond, the route heads back into the park to re-join the Tasmin Way to the Roehampton Gate.  For a longer ride, alternatively, at this point, follow the river towpath to Barnes – this adds about 5 miles.

From Roehampton Gate, the route follows quiet side roads back to Barnes station
