On the first Saturday of every month (more or less) during the CX season, join us for a session aimed squarely at those who want to improve their cyclocross skills.

A relaxed morning on Mitcham learning and honing those all-important CX skills,  cornering, riding off-camber, dismounts and remounts, climbs, descents and carrying your bike as well as gathering a host of racing tips and technics to take your riding to another level.

The session is suitable for all riders regardless of skills and fitness. 

Skills covered: Riding position, climbing, descending, off-camber, cornering, dismounts and remounts along with race tactics and advice. 

Highly qualified coach: The session is designed and run by Herne Hill Velodrome's lead cyclocross coach, Charlie. Charlie is a veteran CX racer, organiser and has been coaching adults and youths for years.

Meeting point

Meet at the Estate Office Coffee 4 Greyhound Lane Sw16 5SD at 9 am 

Timings 

Meet at 9 am, the session will finish around 1 pm.

Skills Covered

Depending on rider level, we'll cover  Riding position, climbing, descending, off-camber and cornering, remounts, dismounts, carrying and shouldering, starts and race tactics.


Is my bike OK for this ride? 

Ideally, riders should have cyclocross or gravel bikes.

What do I need to bring?
  • Helmet (wearing helmets is a must on our rides)
  • Spare inner tube
  • Snacks and Water
  • Rain jacket (if required)
  • Suitably warm/cool clothing for the weather
  • Sunscreen (as necessary)
What's included in the price?
  • Experienced British Cycling Qualified (Level 2 CX disciplined specific ) for the session

    Had a great skills session with Charlie. We were briefed with the plan before leaving, with all going to plan nicely.
    As a total newbie to CX, I picked up loads of new skills & tips about bike handling, body positioning & mounting/dismounting off road.
    Charlie was a patient, knowledgeable & fun coach. Jump on this session as it’s the best bang for buck I’ve come across. Highly recommended!

    Refresher

    I did a session to refresh skills and get confidence back after a year off the bike. Charlie was patient, gave good descriptions of what skills we were doing and watched carefully to help us master the task.
