A quick web search shows London is consistently the 3rd most visited city in the World, visitors flock in a see the sights but how many Londoners take time out to visit their home town?
This is a ride I created for the London Cycling Campaign and is a great winter ride when the trails and bridleways are a muddy morass.
This 20-mile circular bike is a fascinating tour of the capital using a network of cycleways, traffic-free paths and quiet roads. Ride through the medieval City and the heart of the UK’s financial might, discover the repurposed remains of Britain's imperial trading past before heading through the stews of Tudor London. Cross the river into the heart of government and the seat of the modern Monarchy, complete with its pomp and circumstance.
The route passes the sights that draw millions from across the globe and you’ll encounter many other less well-known sights and oddities that make London the fascinating city that we inhabitants rarely visit.
Take a day off to do this ride, it's not about distance or speed, take a lock with you and stop and ferret about a bit, there’s something unexpected at every turn. It's very possible that you’ll be distracted by some museum, pub, restaurant or magnificent building and run out of time...
This is an all-weather route, the majority of which is on traffic-free or segregated cycleways, quiet roads and shared paths in parks. There are some busy junctions which, if preferred, can be crossed on foot using the controlled crossing lights.
