Each sector is around 90km, with its own character, challenges and useful escape options.

Ride one sector as a proper day out, join two together for a big weekend, or complete all four for your own 366km lap of London.

As seen on GCN: Simon Richardson and Alex Paton took on the complete route as one continuous 360km ride. With 1,350m of climbing, this is the hilliest sector of The 360 Anytime. The route becomes tougher as it heads south, with woodland, tracks and a succession of short, sharp climbs before reaching Redhill.

Greenwich and Redhill both have large railway stations, making this a practical point-to-point ride despite the demanding terrain in between.

Sector 2: North Downs and Surrey Heaths

Redhill to Maidenhead
90km | 1,200m climbing

From Redhill, the route crosses the North Downs and heads into Surrey’s lanes, commons, heathland and bridleways.

This is a varied point-to-point ride with plenty of proper gravel riding. The surface and rhythm change constantly: wooded trails, chalk, open heath, quiet lanes and faster tracks towards the Thames Valley.

The sector finishes at Maidenhead, with a large railway station and plenty of options for food before the journey home.

Sector 3: The Chilterns

Maidenhead to St Albans
90km | 1,200m climbing

The north-western arc of The 360 Anytime takes you away from the Thames and into the Chilterns.

This is another hilly sector and one that needs managing. There are longer stretches between reliable resupply points, so carrying enough food and water matters. In return, you get rolling chalk tracks, wooded bridleways, old lanes and some of the most satisfying riding on the entire route.

The sector finishes at St Albans, with a large railway station and direct connections back towards London.

Sector 4: Lee Valley and Epping Forest

St Albans to Greenwich
88km | 558m climbing

The final sector closes the loop, travelling east from St Albans before turning south through Epping Forest and the Lee Valley.

With considerably less climbing than the other three sectors, this is the fastest and most forgiving part of the collection. That does not necessarily make it easy: forest trails can become slow after wet weather, and 88km is still a proper day on the bike.

The final run follows the waterways back into London before finishing where the journey began in Greenwich.

Explore the complete route

The map below shows all four sectors and the complete gravel orbit around London.

Watch GCN take on The 360

GCN’s Simon Richardson and Alex Paton attempted the complete 360km gravel orbit in one continuous ride — pursued by a professional gravel racer who started two hours behind them.

The film gives you a very good idea of the terrain, variety and scale of the route.
